50 Years!! Our Parents Celebrate Their Golden Anniversary !

Our parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 6th at the Salted Vines Vineyard in Frankford, Delaware. It was a fun filled celebration with hints of their actual wedding day. Our parents' wedding was a traditional 1974 wedding. The color of the wedding was a lovely shade of yellow. We wish this color was used more in weddings today. It is so cheerful and sunny! The tuxedos were to die for!! Bring these back too.

We decided that this celebration would be the perfect time to try and recreate our mom and dad’s flowers from their wedding day. The guys' boutonnieres were a very simple single white daisy.  The bridesmaids flowers were a simple mix of yellow daisies and white carnations with a lace collar and yellow satin ribbon streamers. All of the guests at the 50th celebration wore daisy corsages or boutonnieres.

The original bridal bouquet was a mix of white daisies, white carnations, and fern. The recreation was very similar with a mix of white daisies, white carnations, white wax flower, fern with a lace collar and white satin streamers. We were excited to use an older technique of building the flowers in a bouquet holder. We had a difficult time finding the lace collar and holder as they are just not really used much now. One thing that truly surprised us was how gorgeous the simplicity of this bouquet was. It was charming and sweet!! We use very complex recipes and designer flowers most of the time and the simplicity was a breath of fresh air.

The tablescape was a mix of bud vases with white daisies and  white carnations. Accents of gold were added and a delicious cake from the Bavarian Bakery in Dover, Delaware was enjoyed by all. The bride and groom replicated their cake cutting. Wine tastings were a fun part of the day and the wine slushies were a hit!!

Our father presented our mother with a bouquet of fifty roses. He has given his bride an arrangement of carnations every year on their anniversary that matches the number of years they were married. This year was special so roses it was!! (We really love carnations though too!!)

A beautiful marriage was celebrated surrounded by all of the people that wouldn’t be here if they had not gotten married. They are now the proud parents of two florist (and nurses) daughters  and 4 grandchildren. We at Noblewood Florals see the start of so many marriages. It is so wonderful to have an example of where a marriage can take you and what love is really about. Happy 50th Mom and Dad!! We love you, Amy and Amber
